If you have any hives northeast of Downs, IL and are within a 4 mile radius of our mating yards we would love to get you involved in our open VSH mating project.
The goal of the project is to produce a very high concentration of VSH drones to allow for successful open mating of queens that exhibit a very high degree of VSH behavior.
How do you get involved? Simply contract myself or http://www.honeypimpapiaries.com.
What Do I need to do? We will give you a queen cell, virgin, or mated queen depending on availability and a drone frame. Install the queen and drone frame in your hive and you will be contributing high VSH drones to flood the surrounding area.
We currently have 4 VSH breeder queens from Harbo, Bragg, and VP queens to provide stock. We will then be selectively instrumentally inseminating crosses between the lines this year to evaluate as our breeders for next year.
