Spring Planning

It’s that magical time of year when we sit back and daydream about what our beekeeping season is going to look like and set our goals for the year. I’ve tried to get in the habit of keeping a calendar of what I need to do with the hives at approximately what time. I know year to year there’s variation but having a sound plan and sticking to it has paid off vs when I’d just try to read what was going on.

Here’s to the next 2.5 months!

March 2 – Add feeder’s w/ 1:1, Pollen, Drone Frames, and Apivar
March 16 – more 1:1 and pollen
March 30 – more 1:1 and pollen
April 13 – Pull Apivar, assess and make 2 6 frame builders, more 1:1 and pollen
April 20 – 1st graft, nucs come from Money’s Honey, more 1:1 and pollen
April 27 – Make splits into mating nucs, more 1:1 and pollen
May 15 – Make splits and super
