Package Installation
Here’s to hopefully the last round of purchased packages!
Spring Trip
Had a chance to check a few boxes off the broke man’s bucket list. Headed down to Tennessee to see one of the biggest and best RC car races the Psycho Nitro Blast. It was as awesome and impressive as I imagined! Pictures don’t do it justice! After that I rant to Fort Valley, GeorgiaContinue reading “Spring Trip”
Package Inspection(s)
If you just started packages the table below should provide you with a way to check your progress. This is just an estimate/model and the dates are subject to change. I’ll be inspecting my stuff this weekend and counting brood frames taking notes on where each is compared to the model. I started my packagesContinue reading “Package Inspection(s)”
Shake Splits
By far the most efficient and easiest way to make a split. All you need is an extra box and a queen excluder. Organize all your frames into brood, food, and empty while looking for the queen. Put the frames you want to stay in the bottom box. Shake all of the rest of framesContinue reading “Shake Splits”
Feeding
Nothing too crazy…just giving the girls some syrup!
VSH Testing
With grafting season just around the corner and the hives all not being treated since late summer it was an ok time to do some checking for a potential vsh breeder that overwintered. I checked 9 hives at random. Hives 12 and 18 were mite bombs, reproductive mites everywhere. Hives 13, 14, 15 all hadContinue reading “VSH Testing”
Branding Iron
I just grabbed a custom logo branding iron from Amazon and I’ve been extremely happy with how nice it works! It heats up relatively quickly and retains enough heat to brand 2 items. A count of 10/12 seconds is a great timeframe. Here are pics of a box I used it on.
Later Winter Feeding
Time to dust off the old go pro and get some footage posting in the blog. Saying the last 10 months have been crazy is an understatement for the ages. I’m going to be posting weekly videos in a much shorter format on what I’m doing and why as the season progresses. This first videoContinue reading “Later Winter Feeding”
Little R&R
Be back to the grind next week!
