Midweek Update
Weather has been perfect and girls are working hard pulling in nectar and expanding their numbers. This weekend is Memorial Day and a baseball tournament but I hope to get out and inspect all of the hives and get the final nucs ready for sale. I built 2 builders and have grafts in both soContinue reading “Midweek Update”

First Swarm Call!
Was lucky enough to get my first swarm call of the year!! Girls are safe in a nuc and will be re-homed tomorrow!
Builder Fail
Last week had a great little queenless builder that cranked out some beautiful cells. I pulled the cells Wednesday and swapped in a fresh bar for them to build. Hectic Week!

As I’m inspecting I’ve been applying and OA dribble to help kill mites off. Between the OA vape and OA dibble the next few weeks I’mContinue reading “Hectic Week!”
First OA Vape
Thought i had a great video to share of how to drill a hole in bottom board and how to OA vape but my go-pro decided to not record it (probably forgot to hit the button). I have 45 more to treat this week so I will re-record! We have 3 days of steady rainContinue reading “First OA Vape”
Package Inspections
First round of package inspections at one of the apiaries! While I was there applied the first Nosema dribble!
Feeding Day
Busy day at the apiary today making sure the girls have plenty to eat! I’ll also be checking for eggs in all the hives that weren’t laying on Wednesday.
Pulling Cages
Yesterday I spent the afternoon pulling cages and checking on the 50 packages we started. Overall I was pleased with what I found. I unfortunately had one dead queen and most of the bees in that hive had absconded to other hives. I’m always blown away at how much burr comb the bees can buildContinue reading “Pulling Cages”
